Down the TBR Hole #6

DowntheTBRHole

I’ve seen this floating around the internet, so I wanted to give it a try. It was created by Lost in the Story, and it looks like a lot of fun. I’ll be using my personal GoodReads account for this, so we’ll see how this goes.

Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak

I love Russian history, and I’m particularly interested in the time period right after the Russian Revolution. This is why I put this book on my TBR. I’m STILL interested in this sort of thing, so I look forward to reading it.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Okay, here’s the deal. I know this is a popular book. I know it’s depressing. I know it’s about the Holocaust. But I’ve also seen the movie, which is something I try to avoid doing until I’ve read the book. Unfortunately, I had to read it for a class in college.  I just don’t have an interest in reading it now because I know what to expect.

The Kite Runer by Khaled Hosseini

I added this book because it’s one of those contemporary classics that everyone has read except for me. I’ve never read a book set in Afghanistan, and I feel like this book will be one of those that will leave a lasting imprint. I can’t wait to read it…eventually.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

I was four when the movie came out, and I loved the movie as a child. I didn’t know it was based on a book until well into adulthood. That being said, I don’t think I would enjoy it as an adult. Unlike The Boy in the Stripe Pajamas, this movie isn’t one that I remember much about. It isn’t one I plan on reading soon, but perhaps when I have children, I’ll get to it.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S.Lewis

Does anyone even need to look at the book description to know what this is about? Okay, maybe some people. I’ve seen the movie for this too, but I don’t remember much about it other than the children discovering Narnia for the first time. Anyway, I’m actually planning on reading this in the next few months, so I already know what my decision is….
